I Truly Believe in Applied Academics

As the first person to start authoring the Applied Academics Wikibook, I am of course a supporter of the concept and have full "buy in". But that doesn't mean I'm perfect at implementing it. I really do want people to think about whether they agree or disagree with the concept, and if there are disagreements, to make your case. First Thoughts

This is the first time I have heard the term Applied Academics. It is a timely read for me, because it echoes a lot of my recent thoughts about education, particularly around the usefulness of traditional academic (and 'schooling') strategies in highly networked societies.
