Abstract

Alpha Centauri 006

The two bright stars are (left) Alpha Centauri and (right) Beta Centauri. The faint red star in the center of the red circle is Proxima Centauri The reader needs to open the image (by "open in new tab") in order to even see Proxima Centauri, which is slightly closer to Earth than the other two. The name "alpha" tells us that it is the brightest star (as seen from Earth) in the constellation Centaurus
