Tests

Welcome, students, to /115: Tests.

{Pumpmeup's recent edits are... |type="()"} - tests of vigilance of current custodians. || Good guess, but why would anyone doubt them? - tests for future custodians. || No - does not explain the deletions and subsequent replacements. + something weird from outer space. || This is the simplest solution which fits with the facts. </quiz>

Disregard everything above

All just messing around. After all, isn't that what wikis are all about? Experimentation. Think about it and give me 3 good reasons how it is detrimental to humanity as a whole, or on a smaller scale just Wikimedia. Seriously though, that is your module assignment. Instant level promotions and extra credit to anyone who can email your tutor a completed assignment.

Homework recap: Explain 3 good reasons (clear evidence needed for passing grade) why tests in Wikimedia projects are bad

Respecting testers

If you see a test edit and revert/undo/remove it, always use a helpful edit summary, usually thanking them. A template or message that thanks them for their edits is mandatory (more standard messages covered in Module 190). Tests are not to be discouraged, only gently directed towards your local sandbox - usually [[Wikiname:Sandbox]] i.e. Wikiversity:Sandbox. Remember, everything can be reverted and removed, and if we killed off test edits, we would kill off masses of valuable newcomers (covered in your last module).
