In chapter 11 of the Guvnor User Guide you can find a step-by-step installation.

Step 0: check version of Java en Mavem

Open a command prompt and type: java -version. You need at least version 1.6.0 or higher.
Open a command prompt and type: mvn -version. You need at least version 3.0.0 or higher.

Step 1: installing an application server
