Hybridization and Molecular Orbital (MO) Theory are ways of describing atomic bonding in atoms and molecules. Hybridization, developed by Linus Pauling, explains bonding through electron orbitals combining to form hybrid orbitals. MO theory focuses on the bonds between two or more atoms, and explains how the characteristics of electron orbital overlap.
