Methanol
Methanol is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CH3OH. It is a by-product of the conversion of the common amino acid methionine to the uncommon amino acid homocysteine by hydrolysis.
- Methionine + Water → Homocysteine + Methanol
Methanol is a potent inhibitor of the metabolism of endogenous arachidonic acid by elicited rat peritoneal leukocytes. [1]
