Finding Data

Self Generated Data

There are many ways to create data. The following list is by no means all inclusive. Please use whatever methods you find effective.

Referencing External Data

Standard academic methods of citing data should be used where possible. See Wikiversity:Cite sources. It is preferable that the raw data be available to others online but not always feasible. Much data is only summarized in published forms. Often these results published in specialized journals and many journals are too expensive for many to access either directly or via online or library resources. It is important to know that physical facts may not be copyrighted. For example: If a physical data constant is needed from a CRC handbook or steam tables to check a calculation it may be provided. One would not copy an entire copyrighted page of data and publish it to Wikiversity, this would be a copyright violation unless fair use could be substantiated in detail. A harrowing experience better avoided.
