Ham radios

The hobby of amateur radio communications is often referred to as Ham radio.

Idea

Some schools have ham radio stations. The goal is to create a tutorial so students can pass the FCC Technician test and then begin working with local hams. Most hams are involved in emergency management, disaster relief. This leads to the engineering associated with flying cell towers, black boxes dropped on damaged buildings, etc. Other goals involve using FCC privileges to create super powerful wifi hot spots, water antennas, and mobile antenna arrays that can sense electrical storms on Jupiter, the sun, and space communication. On the radio side, the goals would be to start with a razor blade, pencil, thumbtack foxhole radio made in WWII and work through the ancient radio kits to RC systems using HAM equipment.
