HLA/Linkage Disequilibrium
< HLAAlleles from different genes are not in random recombination if the genes are located close to each in a chromosome. In fact, this phenomenon, called 'linkage disequilibrium', is used in gene mapping to determine how close two genes are to each other.
In so far as HLA genes are close to each other they are in linkage disequilibrium. This is particularly the case for the following blocks of genes:
- B / C
- DRB1 / DRB345 / DQB1 / DQA1
