Typing problems
Most of the allele assignments of DRB1*14:01:01 prior to 2008 were actually DRB1*14:54 instead of DRB1*14:01:01. About 95% of them are DRB1*14:54 and only about 5% are DRB1*14:01:01. The difference between the two alleles is in exon 3, which is typically not analysed. The association with DRB3 can be used to tell the difference in the great majority of cases.
