Group Theory for Physicists

Preface

Group Theory is a specialized field of Mathematics that finds many applications in different areas of Science. There are excellent textbooks, from introductory to advanced, to learn this field. In this notes we are supplying an introduction to the subject at the level of last year undergraduate or graduate level in Physics. The main usefulness of the notes is the selection of material, aiming at providing the students with a working knowledge of the field in approximately 10 hours of teaching. Obviously, many things are left out to fit it into this time slot. Proofs of theorems, lemmas, etc are not included. On the other hand, the course is fairly self-contained and focuses on those concepts which are most frequently used in Elementary Particle Physics. Thus, if you coincide in the amount of time that you want to allocate to the subject, and in the focus, you might find my notes useful.
