Game mechanics/Area Movement

< Game mechanics

Area movement is a mechanism used in board game design. It is characterised by having a game board is divided into areas of varying shape and size. Players can move pieces into and out of each area in any direction provided the areas are adjacent or connected.

However, Area Movement is arguably an alternative way of presenting Point to Point Movement, as the areas act as "points" with implicit "lines" connecting each area to their adjacent areas.
