A general account of the involvement of inflammation in Parkinson's from different perspectives including the involvement of the innate and adaptive immune systems, the role of microglia, the relation to the reactive oxygen species and apoptotic substances generated in the inflammatory response and the pro-inflammatory properties of alpha-synuclein oligomers and its oxidised and nitrated derivatives.
Also the potential use of anti-inflammatory substances as a disease modifying therapy.
