Computers of the past
This ancient Greek computer was only marginally a computer because it was programmable only to the extent that it had to be "dialed" to a particular Saros cycle. But the design was so advanced that it has been called the first laptop^[1]^[2].
The Jacquard loom was developed in 1801. Note the wooden punch cards.
The Harvard (human) Computers helped us ascertain the size, temperature, and chemical composition of stars.
Turing's bombe was an electro-mechanical computer used to break the German Enigma machine.
