  • offer a structualist reading of the Hymn to Aphrodite


Aphrodite's birth and origins

Aphrodite is older than Zeus and her companion Eros (love) is older still. Hesiod has Eros born as one of the first beings, before Zeus or Zeus's father Kronos.
