Daucus is the genus of plants that includes carrots, wild carrots, and several related plants, including from 22 to 25 species.
Description
Flowers in large umbels.

Uses
Some species are grown for the edible roots, but otherwise grown for their flowers.
Harvesting
Roots of edible species are harvested the first year, before flower stalks are created.
