About the Author

Jose Maria A. Ochave is a chemical engineer and lawyer. He obtained his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of the Philippines – Diliman, and his Master of Laws degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He is currently Assistant Vice President at United Laboratories, Inc., Professor-II at the Philippine Judicial Academy, and member and legal advisor of the National Committee on Biosafety of the Philippines. He advises various Philippine government agencies and non-governmental organizations on legal and policy issues relating to biosafety, intellectual property, biotechnology, and technology transfer.
