Forældre ~ Parents

Just like in English, the Danish language has several words for mother and father. Starting with the words for mother, we see:

Søskende ~ Siblings

The words for søskende (siblings) are for brother:

and for sister:

Børn ~ Children

In Danish, the words for son and daughter are close to English. They are søn and datter, respectively.

Bedsteforældre ~ Grandparents

Grandparents are also quite simple. Keep in mind mor is mother and far is father.

The Danish word for grandchild is barnebarn.

Oldeforældre ~ Great-grandparents

The Danish word for great-grandchild is oldebarn

Tipoldeforældre ~ Great-great-grandparents

The Danish word for great-great-grandchild is tipoldebarn.
