2...g6 equalizes after 3. g3 Bg7 4.Bg2 Nc6 or 3.e3 Nf6 4. d4 Bg7 or 4...cxd4 5.exd4 Bg7. 2...Nc6 is not good because of 3. Nf3 g6 4. e3 Bg7 5.d4, when White stands better, ready to push d5.
