Long leg posterior splint
Background
Indications
Procedure

- Assess distal pulse, motor, and sensation
- Apply padding and splint material (e.g. Ortho-glass) as shown
- Knee should be kept at 5 degrees flexion, foot in slight plantarflexion
- Maintain position until splint hardens and secure splint to leg (e.g. ace wraps)
- Reassess distal pulse, motor, and sensation
