Lloyd is a town located in Ulster County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 9,941.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 86.4 km² (33.4 mi²). 82.2 km² (31.7 mi²) of it is land and 4.2 km² (1.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.91% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 9,941 people, 3,626 households, and 2,429 families residing in the town. The population density is 121.0/km² (313.3/mi²). There are 3,818 housing units at an average density of 46.5/km² (120.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 90.29% White, 5.22% African American, 0.16% Native American, 1.22% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.30% from other races, and 1.80% from two or more races. 5.07% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,626 households out of which 33.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.6% are married couples living together, 10.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% are non-families. 25.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.54 and the average family size is 3.09.

In the town the population is spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.0 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $52,686, and the median income for a family is $61,584. Males have a median income of $40,774 versus $30,286 for females.
