Holocaust industry is a term popularized by
Norman G. Finkelstein in his book by the same name. In the book, Finkelstein contends that some leaders of the
Jewish community have inappropriately used the
Holocaust as a tool to scare Jews into thinking that there is more anti-Semitism now than there really is, in order to raise money and to support Israel.
He believes that many American Jews are not following Judaism as a way of life, and have replaced Judaism with mere fear about anti-Semitism and fund-raising for Jewish causes. His book has been sharply criticised by other scholars as being reactionary and exagerrated.
