Doctor Phillips is a town located in Orange County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 9,548.

Geography

Doctor Phillips is located at 28°27'22" North, 81°29'35" West (28.455987, -81.493166)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 12.6 km² (4.8 mi²). 8.8 km² (3.4 mi²) of it is land and 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 29.90% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 9,548 people, 3,451 households, and 2,691 families residing in the town. The population density is 1,084.3/km² (2,808.4/mi²). There are 3,769 housing units at an average density of 428.0/km² (1,108.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 84.14% White, 3.05% African American, 0.06% Native American, 8.46% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.94% from other races, and 2.31% from two or more races. 8.36% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,451 households out of which 39.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.7% are married couples living together, 9.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.0% are non-families. 17.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.77 and the average family size is 3.14.

In the town the population is spread out with 26.5% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 28.5% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.7 males.
