Ciudad Real is a province of central
Spain, in the southwestern part of the
autonomous community of
Castile-La Mancha. It is bordered by the provinces of
Cuenca,
Albacete,
Jaén,
Córdoba,
Bajadoz, and
Toledo. Its capital is
Ciudad Real[?]. The capital was founded by king
Alfonso VI of Castile after the battle of Las Navas de Tolsa against muslims of Al-Andalus (
Andalucia).
