Celina is a city located in Mercer County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 10,303. It is the county seat of Mercer County6.

Geography

Celina is located at 40°33'5" North, 84°34'12" West (40.551459, -84.570057)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.5 km² (4.4 mi²). 11.4 km² (4.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.90% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 10,303 people, 4,191 households, and 2,745 families residing in the city. The population density is 906.2/km² (2,346.9/mi²). There are 4,466 housing units at an average density of 392.8/km² (1,017.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.04% White, 0.18% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.62% from other races, and 1.10% from two or more races. 2.14% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 4,191 households out of which 33.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.3% are married couples living together, 11.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% are non-families. 30.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.42 and the average family size is 3.04.

In the city the population is spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 21.0% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 91.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.8 males.
